Chatting to a passer-by whilst hauling reeds out of the canal
The work boat being hauled along on a long rope. No horses here, this is being pulled by willing volunteers!
Dredging reeds from the canal bed using grapples from the bridge.
The undergrowth is rapidly filling the canal in this shot. Without constant management, the canal would vanish very quickly!
Pruning trees with a pole saw from a work boat on the far side of the canal. The trick here is not to fall in!
A range of power tools is used (by qualified operators!) from the work boat.
The need for tree clearance and management is clearly shown here. Left to its own devices, the undergrowth would fill the canal in just a few years!
More reed clearance work with DCC Rangers
The work boat passes under the Lawn Bridge
A man-drawn boat, passing under the bridge.
More clearance and tree felling - from the land this time.
